Metropolitan Augoustinos Foretold
the Coming of a Great Epidemic
In 1990, the fiery Metropolitan Augoustinos Kantiotes of Florina (†2010) foretold a coming apocalyptic epidemic that sounds a lot like the current pandemic of the coronavirus. Is the current epidemic what he was referring to or is this a taste of a worse epidemic to come?
Below is an English translation which you can read while listening to the following recording:
“We are in danger as individuals, we are in danger of an epidemic. An epidemic will come. Oh, oh, oh! It’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming, it’s coming. An epidemic is coming which will not be a flu, like the little flu we are accustomed to where you fall into bed and so forth, but in accordance with the Apocalypse an epidemic is coming whose name will be strange and it will reduce the doctors to nothing, it will put them to shame, it will put the pharmacies to shame, everything will be put to shame – like an electric vacuum cleaner. What is God to do with us? We do not pray. We do not read the Holy Scriptures. Everywhere there are fornications and adulteries and divorces and impurities. We have become like filthy and unclean worms! An epidemic is coming that will devastate the entire world - like a vacuum cleaner! And just as during the First World War the flu came and devastated all of Athens, and thousands fell and died, so a terrible epidemic will come from the East from which we are in danger my brethren! Let us fall on our knees, take up arms, and cry out ‘Lord have mercy’ in prayer!"
